Kari and the Volva Stav Guild began growing kvann, (Angelica archangelica) from seedlings gifted by Guild sister, Bethany in 2022. The photo right is the six foot seed stalk from the second year plant in 2024. This plant's importance in Norwegian health, healing, culinary, and ritual life has been a study of the Guild for these four years.

From her Minneapolis "kvanngården" (the kvann farm), follow Kari to Northern Norway July 2-5, 2026 as she learns from renown Sàmi/Norwegian Nature instrument maker, performer, and teacher, Øistein Hanssen.

 

Her goal is to experience the ephemeral spring flute called fàdnu! Made from the fresh stem of a first year plant, this flute only lasts two hours.
