What is a Ritual Artist?

Process and intention are the keys. Whether I am creating a new song or directing a Ritual Show, the attention is on the process of the creation. The process itself becomes the art.

Ritual differs from habit in that habits are often unconscious acts while ritual is based upon intention. In my house we have the habit of doing "Saturday work." This is when the bathroom gets cleaned and the bed linens changed. To shift these activities into ritual one simply needs to maintain the presence of mind while scrubbing the toilet bowl and visualize that the cleaning is occurring on more levels than the physical!

My Norwegian Lutheran Grandmother one time said that the state of your kitchen reflects the state of your soul. She was a very aware and present woman. Reflection and intentional action were part of her natural being. And she was very prayerful. So she could create powerful ritual within the simplest of tasks.

I have studied theology, philosophy, an spiritual and cultural traditions from around the globe. I blend aspects of different traditions as each clients needs and cultural connections directs me. More on My Studies

I have practiced intentional prayer and ritual since my childhood.

Growing up in the Lutheran Church of the 1970's I was introduced to the power of interactive church services. Dramatics such as the Motion Choir, audio visual presentations, and folk music sing-a-longs were essential elements in our services. I thrived in this environment as an artistic and musical child. I incorporated such techniques as motion, dance, and chant into my prayer life early on and have created ritual in this way for many others throughout my life.

Performance Ritual - is the use of ritual structure and intention in the creation and production of an entertainment. DOBT
