The
DOBT Project Mission
To
assemble a group of performers, write a fresh script for the season
we are celebrating, and perform a ritual show appropriate
for all ages, all faiths, and all cultures.
Each
show is based on global traditions placed on the astronomical events
of winter and summer solstice, fall and spring equinox, and the
points in between called the Seasonal Cycle.
"We
believe that individual and community emotion, attitude and desire
is affected by weather and seasonal change. Creating awareness of
this and offering solutions through the arts puts us in touch with
Earth, ourselves, and each other, creating balance."
Why
Kari started this project.
Description
of ritual show events:
The
show itself is cabaret style, including a varity original and
traditional music, dance, puppetry, stilting, spoken word, shadow
play, drum circles, and interactive song/chant/and dance all connected
by the seasonal theme!
The
event is woven together by a unified theme for the season and structured
ritual format. Like an essay, it
has a theme, a begining, middle and a conclusion.
The
environment for each performance is safe and appropriate for
children and the elderly. Each show is performed "in the round"
as much as possible given each venue.
Food is a huge part of celebration and there is eating and
drinking before, during, and after the show.
Visually stimulating original art hangs in the space corrolating
to the theme of the show.
Each production includes opportunities for "audience
participation".
Henna
artists and Intuitive readers
are available before and after all of the Discovering Origins/Building
Traditions shows. It is important to have the opportunity to "mark"
the occasion on the physical and gain further, personal insights
at these times of transition.
Vendor
opportunities for making meaningful purchases
to mark the year.
In larger productions a variety of local artists display and sell
their work adding to the creation of community and opportunity for
personal celebraton.
If
you would like to use this material to create your own Discovering
Origins/Building Traditions Ritual Show, that would be wonderful!
Remember that Kari Tauring owns the copyright to all scripts, songs,
