"I love to teach my original curriculum and add fresh perspective and creativity to existing curriculum. My style is process oriented with outcomes visible through student creations."

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Learning is risk taking. So is making art, thinking new thoughts, any activity that challenges us to change and grow. It takes courage and we must feel safe and supported as we take leaps of faith in learning. Creating a supportive and positive environment and guiding students through self discovery defines my teaching and performance style.

Highlights of 2006

*Creator, Producer, Director, and Performer -
Discovering Origins/Building Traditions Project - These multimedia performance ritual events honor the global traditions surrounding the Solstices and Equinoxes and the points in-between.

*Storyteller - There have been numerous engagements as a story teller from Winter tales in corporate settings to performance tales in theaters throughout Minneapolis.

*Nordic Roots classes including Runes and Staving (shamanic journey)
Ingebretsen's on Lake as well as workshops and private lessons

*Huldre - Celto-Scandinavian Roots Music performance and curriculum.

*Lecturer/Keynote Speaker - 2006 was full of engagements with various churches, retreats and conferences.

*Ritualist - I have assisted in private ritual for many wonderful people in 2005. I help define intention and create meaningful actions for the grounding of that intention.

Discovering Origins/Building Traditions Project -since 1999. These multimedia performance ritual events honor the global traditions surrounding the Solstices and Equinoxes and the points in-between.

Featured Radio Guest on several KFAI presentations during National Women's Week discussing the place and nature of ritual in our modern lives and process oriented collaboration with other women artists. I gave talks with discussion on Speak out Sisters, The Goddess Hour, Many'a Woman's Voice and Art Matters and participated in a Women's String Jam live at Dulano's through the Stone Soup program.

Lead Ritualist - Goddess Night Season 2004 - Minneapolis

Private Practice Ritualist Creator, Performer and Facilitator of ritual for life change events including death rites, marriage rites, and neighborhood reclamation - Throughout the Midwest Region.

Artist in Residence - Midtown Public Market - Minneapolis Created and Performed a series of morality tale puppet shows based on the Brazilian art form "Literatura de Cordel" with Anne Sawyer-Aitch. Along with the puppet series I created a Compact Disc and booklet set of the Imani series. These performances and copies of the CD's etc. are available.

Keewaydin Elementary School - Minneapolis, MN Performance and inservice with "Stories on a String".

Teacher of Nordic Roots classes including runelore, history and mythology - Ingebretsen's - Minneapolis and privately

Self Published "A Little Rune Book" designed for advanced students of runes as a quick reference and "Imani and the Magical Bird" series of three morality tales.

Exhibitor Art-a-Whirl in Minneapolis (2 years) displaying my original rune jewelry, runesets, and sculptures.

Developed and Taught Ms Kari's Summer Greenthumbs - summer classes for children exploring language, nature, culture, and intention with a "Harry Potter" style curriculum.

Rune Reader - Goddess Night Cabaret, private appointments and parties, various high school senior parties. Some teaching goes along with this.

Arts Educator in Logan Park Arts program - various classes including mask making and characterization, fundamentals of sound, Cherokee Song and Story Hour

Reading Tutor for Youth Incorporated in Minneapolis Public Schools at Hiawatha Community School.
