My responses to participation in this project:

As I sit here creating this page, Monday July 24th, my mind wants to ramble. My family is not here and the office is mine alone. But so is the garden and the old canes need pruning.

There are emails to answer and new webs to weave as I place "A Sense of Vocation" Post-It Notes all around my main frame. Here is the link to the provider of said note pad...as well as what is written on them: http://vocations.luther.edu.

I felt so proud to say that I was picking up two other philosophers at the MSP airport at 11.

A sense of pure joy (pride and humility in perfect balance) filled me often when preparing for this conference. Of course there were other feelings I had. I was really excited. It makes my body jump and giggle to be in joy and excitement. Anticipation is a feeling that, when it creeps in I usually do not hold for long. I have learned over the years that to dwell on anticipation causes my brain to visualize what will happen. I don't like to do that because such things are purely speculative and set me up for expectations that are very unfair to have.

I have described myself as a philosopher since I can remember actually. My brain has always questioned and has always set out to find answers in response to those questions. I love my process so much that I giggle at the thought of sharing my journey with others who are surely on the same quest. Ah, but there, I am making assumptions about where people might be at. The only assumption I can make is that our host, Kent Simmonds, believes all of the invitees are on this quest and will add something important to the conversation of "Philosophy and Vocation."
