Minnehaha
Avenue Community Garden
Located on Minnehaha Avenue in Minneapolis, MN
The most exciting
things are happening in the Greater Longfellow Neighborhood of Minneapolis.
The need for creating healthy soil and uncontaminated food and medicinal
plants is growing fast. Minnehaha Avenue Community Garden does all
of this!
Individual
Plot Holders - rent plots and grow a variety of things. In 2004
we had a plot held by the Veterans Home, two "Three Sisters"
plots of corn, beans and squash with seeds donated from the White
Earth Reservation, many vegetable growers and flower beds. If you
would like to be a plot holder at this site email me for contact
information.
Medicinal
Gardens - were started two years ago by Sandra
Arseth who provided all the plants, plant markers, and labor.
The harvest from the medicine gardens was shared throughout the
community. Tinctures, salves, and vinnegars were made and shared
also.
NEW for 2005
We are excited to announce the project Sustainable Medicinals
in an Urban Environment. Working with resources from
United Plant Savers , local Herbalist and Educator Lise Wolfe,
Seedswoman Sandra Arseth, and Educator Kari Tauring, as well as
Minnehaha Falls
Nursery and Garden Store and other plant sources broadens the
scope of what we can accomplish.
